John Arbuthnot

John Arbuthnot founded Delta 9 with his father (Bill) in 2012 as a fourth year business student at the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba, where he came up with the concept of producing medical marijuana in Canada.

Over the past four years John has played an integral role in the development of all aspects of Delta 9’s operations. John’s focus as CEO is devoted to corporate strategy, financial planning, business development, and implementation of Delta 9’s modular growth strategy.

Jim Lawson

Jim Lawson has been the accountant/controller of Delta 9 Bio-Tech Inc. since the company’s inception in the fall of 2013. Prior to working with Delta 9 Jim worked for small public accounting firms for over 25 years. He has worked in the areas of First Nations audit, financial training and consulting as well as the preparation of financial statements, income tax and consulting for small businesses and personal income tax. He has served as a volunteer board member for numerous not-for-profit boards in the capacity of the treasurer.

Mark Jonker

Mark has worked in manufacturing for 25 years in various roles including Production Control, IT Management, ERP Implementation, and Operations Management in everything from Wood Manufacturing, B2B Equipment Manufacturing and Sales, and Cannabis Production. Mark has his Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance. His focus at Delta 9 is using Continuous Improvement methodologies to drive success. The last two years were primarily spent completing the buildout of the Delta 9 production facility where it is now producing at design capacity and trialing new methodologies to increase design capacity.

Marshall Posner

Marshall is an experienced marketing professional having owned and managed several of his own businesses since 1995 including a web design agency and an interactive/architectural exhibits company. Marshall has a demonstrated history of working in the Canadian cannabis sector having been involved with Delta 9 since June 2013. Skilled in brand development, creative content design, creating high performance e-commerce websites, developing contextual advertising campaigns, and more, Marshall is a valued member of our management team. 

David Kideckel

David has nearly 20 years of combined industry and capital markets experience, most recently serving as Managing Director, Senior Institutional Equity Research Analyst at a leading capital markets firm.

David’s industry experience spans several senior healthcare executive roles including at Johnson & Johnson Inc. and Alexion Pharmaceuticals (acquired by AstraZeneca). Within Capital Markets, David was at the forefront of the cannabis industry and was the sole Bay Street analyst to cover GW Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Jazz Pharmaceuticals), and was known for his expert analyses and thought leadership in retail, LP’s, US and international strategy & partnerships, as well as cannabinoid-derived pharmaceuticals and biosynthesis. David holds PhD and MBA degrees from the University of Toronto’s Institute of Medical Science and Rotman School of Management, respectively. As a native Winnipegger, he is also a University Gold Medalist.

Ian Chadsey

Ian Chadsey is the Vice President of Investor and Media Relations with over 20 years experience. He holds a MBA from the university of Ottawa and is a CPA. He is responsible for the development of a pro-active investor relations program designed to raise awareness and build relationships with equity analysts, portfolio managers, investment bankers and financial media. Prior to joining Delta 9, Ian was the VP of Investor & Media Relations at Bell MTS and Nutrien (former Agrium).  He began his career as a sell side equity analyst with Deacon Morgan in Toronto and followed this by building a successful investor/media consulting firm.

Jen Serek

Jennifer has been the VP of Human Resources for Delta 9 since June 2018. Prior to joining Delta 9 she worked for over 21 years in HR and more specifically for a large Winnipeg furniture manufacturer. She is passionate about manufacturing as a whole and well versed in the challenges that manufacturing can bring. Over the past year she has helped to provide her knowledge and initiatives to build a strong human resource structure.

Derek Reimer

Derek has 20+ years of experience in asset protection, saftey, & critical regulatory compliance. Prior to joining Delta 9, Derek lead divisional big box multi-channel business operations and complience which had undergone substantial organization growth and scale at Home Depot and more recently Cabela's Canda. 

Todd Schubert

Todd has 15+ years of experience leading Information Technology teams for Retail and Fintech companies. Prior to joining Delta 9, Todd lead the Information Technology and Security operations for a national hard goods retailer.

Michael Onizak

Michael  comes to Delta 9 with over 15+ years experience in supply chain, retail, and analytics. Since joining Delta 9 in 2018, Michael has played an integral role in the development of Delta 9’s supply chain operations. Michael’s focuses as VP of Supply Chain are devoted to developing the strategy, and relationships necessary to sustain and grow supply chain. Prior to joining Delta 9, Michael was an Analyst at StandardAero and Cabela's Canada

Kelsey Friesen

Kelsey Friesen has over 15 years of experience as an executive in the nutraceutical industry. He has championed the successful launch of over 30 brands in major retail stores across Canada and the USA. At Delta 9 over the last 2 years, he managed to direct the growth, sales and branding of it’s B2B business to over $10 million in sales and oversees marketing, financial planning, sales for Delta 9’s proprietary Grow Pod technology and strategic industry partnerships. Kelsey’s focus as Director of Sales is aimed at business development through exponential growth, strategic partnerships and innovative deployment of the company’s technology throughout the cannabis and bio-tech industries.

Nitin Kaushal is a managing director in the Deals practice at PricewaterhouseCooper’s Corporate Finance Group. He has more than 25 years experience in the financial investing, life sciences, consumer healthcare, healthcare services and medical device industries.

Mr. Kaushal’s has sat on the board of numerous pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, and held senior roles in investment banking, venture capital and consulting firms. Brendan Wood International ranked Nitin as the Top Healthcare Investment Banker in 2008/2009.

Prior to founding Delta 9 Bill worked in network development and engineering for one of Canada’s Big Six Banks. As Delta 9’s President/Chairman and Senior Person in Charge, Bill supervises research and development, design, construction of Delta 9’s Grow Pods and grow facilities, and day-to-day operations at the Winnipeg-based production facility.

Joanne Duhoux-Defehr

Joanne Duhoux-Defehr is President of Triple D Developments, where she managed 1.5 million square feet of commercial and industrial buildings, including the Delta 9 site. Ms. Duhoux-Defehr earned a BA in Business Administration and a degree in Theology in the Netherlands, and a law degree from the University of San Francisco.

Ms. Duhoux-Defehr initially worked in the area of business litigation and intellectual property in the US as a member of the California bar. She currently sits on the board of several companies, and is a core founding member of the Delta 9 team.

Hugh Aird

Hugh Aird is currently Chairman of Balnagowan Investments. He has been a career Investment Banker having served as Chairman,Trilon Financial, Founder, Trilon Securities Corporation, and Vice Chairman , Merrill Lynch Canada and Edelman Canada. Mr. Aird has served on numerous public and private Corporate Boards of Directors.

He has completed many significant Merger and Acquisition opportunities as well as over 100 public financings throughout North America.
